Birsa __ "Birsa , the legend figure of Jharkhand, was born in Chalkad, a small village in the hills in the south of Tamar thana in the district of Ranchi. He appeared first to have been a Lutheran Christian,having been partially educated the German Mission school at Chaibasa,and then to have apostacized declaring himself to have become a Munda of his village.In 1895 he suddenly proclaimed himself to be an incarnation of the deity,destined to save the Mundas in this world and the next."
