Mummy at Joseph Moore Museum - Earlham College __ "Ta'an
was the daughter of an Egyptian priest. She was about 20 years old when she was
buried sometime between 100 BC and 200 AD - about 2000 years ago. The
hieroglyphics painted on her box have been translated to be kind of like an
obituary. They explain who she was and what her connection with the gods was.
The mummy was brought to the musuem by an old Earlham president who had taken a
trip to Egypt. All we know is that he bought it from the Government Musuem in
Cairo and that the mummy was supposedly found near the Nile River. We took the
mummy to Reid Memorial Hospital and had her x-rayed. We then learned that her
joints showed little use and she had probably been an invalid for her most of
her life." - You can learn more about her and her history plus find out where
